President Trump gave a campaign-style speech to an adoring audience at the NRA convention on Friday — vowing to support gun rights, reliving his election victory and repeating “our favorite slogan, ‘Make America Great Again!’ ”
“The eight-year assault on your Second Amendment freedoms has come to a crashing end,” Trump said at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
The president was energized by the 10,000-strong crowd, who went wild as he slammed radical Islamic terrorists and illegal immigrants. Trump also spent the first portion of his roughly half-hour address reminiscing about his election-night upset.
He was the first sitting president to speak at the NRA convention since Ronald Reagan.
