President Trump on Monday said his administration will “handle” North Korea after the rogue regime ramped up its military ambitions by launching an intercontinental ballistic missile that could hit the US mainland.

“We’ll handle North Korea. We’ll be able to handle North Korea. It will be handled. We handle everything,” Trump said as he gathered with his Cabinet in the West Wing.

North Korean President Kim Jong Un said his government successfully launched an ICBM on Friday that has the range to strike Chicago.

In response, the US sent two B-1 bombers to fly over the Korean peninsula on Sunday and conducted a test of an anti-missile system in the Pacific.

Trump kicked off the Cabinet meeting by welcoming retired Gen. John Kelly, who had been sworn in as the new White House chief of staff just minutes before.

The president said Kelly will no doubt be an “absolutely superb” chief of staff.

Trump sat directly across the table from Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who he has been attacking in the past few weeks for recusing himself from the investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election.

But he didn’t mention Sessions while the media were present at the meeting.

Kelly replaced Reince Priebus, who Trump fired last Friday.
