Leaping amphibians!

A Texas man bagged a monstrous bullfrog while hunting last week, sending the Internet into a tizzy over the over-sized beast.

Markcuz Rangel shot the 13-pound bullfrog near a Batesville, Texas, fishing pond, according to the South Texas Hunting Assoc., which shared the photo on Facebook and has since racked up more than 265,000 likes on the post.

“It ain’t no frog. It’s a space alien!!” replied Michael Small.

“If it’s real, it Godzilla’s cousin,” wrote Trey Cornwell.

Other users jumped on the post, claiming the photo was fake. But it’s the real deal, according to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department spokesman Steve Lightfoot, who said the frog isn’t as large as it looks, because Ragnel used a little sleight of hand to amp up the amphibian.

“It’s not as bigly [sic] as it appears,” Lightfoot told the Houston Chronicle. “[It’s an] optical illusion created by extending frog toward the camera – similar to what you see with fishermen holding up fish to make them appear larger. Still a big bullfrog, though.”
