COLUMBIA, S.C (Reuters) – The board of Santee Cooper, a state-owned utility, voted to halt construction on Monday of two unfinished nuclear reactors at the V.C. Summer generating plant, which have been dogged by billions of dollars of cost overruns.

The project is 55 percent owned by a unit of SCANA Corp and 45 percent owned by Santee Cooper.
