Feds busted a California prosecutor – and son of Watergate figure G. Gordon Liddy – for allegedly downloading child porn, authorities said.

Agents recovered 10 kiddie-porn images on a computer and thumb drive belonging to California Deputy AG Raymond Liddy, 52, at his home Tuesday in Coronado, a tony beach town in San Diego County, according to a federal complaint.

“During a preliminary forensic review of digital media located at the residence, agents found numerous images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct on a computer and a thumb drive,” according to a complaint filed by federal prosecutors in San Diego. “Liddy admitted that the thumb drive was computer belonged to him, along with the contents of the same.”
Liddy admitted he’s participated in online chats about sexual fantasies, feds said.

“Liddy claimed that he often saved sexual images he downloaded briefly and then deleted them; however, it was possible he forwarded some images before he deleted them,” according to the complaint.

“He claimed the majority of these images were of adults but admitted it was possible that some may have been of children.”

Liddy has pleaded not guilty to possession of child porn, “He is a wonderful person. He is universally loved by a lot of different people who expressed that to me and he is a terrific human being,” his defense lawyer Knut Johnson told KFMB.

A rep for Liddy’s boss, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, could not be immediately reached for comment on Thursday.

The suspect’s 86-year-old dad is best known for being one of the prime architects of the infamous Watergate burglary before going on to be a nationally syndicated radio talk show host.
